A few weeks ago, I posted about my morning routine. You can find that post below. Click the link below the picture to go to actual post on social and follow me ; )

The common misconception about a routine is that it will make you feel tied down and not free, when really it’s just the opposite! You will feel more free, more alive, and have more success with a routine. We as humans need routine. We need structure. When we don’t have routine, we feel lost, sometimes unmotivated with no sense of direction.

It’s especially important to have structure and routine during transition. Transitions are a time of stepping into the unknown, stepping into something new. You experience change. And with change and a new experience you can feel at a loss, feel unsure. But when you have some type of routine during this time, you can feel more grounded and have a sense of direction.

In this episode, I share about my morning routine and how I plan for my mornings the night before. I do things such as planning tasks for the following day, laying my gym clothes out, and filling my water bottle.

Two books I mention to help with this are Miracle Morning and Atomic Habits.

All in all, you need to find what works best for you and the only way you can do that is by EXPERIMENTING. Try something and if it doesn’t work out, change it. Just because you start something a certain way doesn’t mean it needs to stay that way. Habits take time. Try something for at least 2-3 weeks. You may surprise yourself. And don’t tell yourself things like, “I’m not a morning person.” You don’t know until you try. I wasn’t a “morning person” until I made myself wake up before the crack of dawn to meet a friend and personal trainer at the gym before work. There’s something about accountability that will help get you to where you want to go.
